Nigeria is a blessed country. We are blessed with diverse rich culture and food. Nigerians both at home and the diaspora always love their food because of how unique and delicious it is. You are free to add to the list because this list is based on my research. Feel free to salivate.... It's allowed.

RICE AND STEW

This happens to be my second favourite meal funny enough. It is called Sunday food by most people because although people prepare rice and stew on a normal day, it is most commonly prepared on Sundays.

The rice is boiled white and served with stew made from tomatoes and other ingredients. I did a research on how different people prepare stew and it turns out that there are different ways of making stew.

But 70% of Nigerians prepare is with tomato, onion, vegetable oil/palm oil. It's definitely one of the most popular foods in Nigeria.

POUNDED YAM

Pounded yam is one of the most popular foods in Nigeria. What Nigerian man hates pounded yam? We don't joke with our pounded yam.

It is best served with delicious soups like ukazi soup, eguisi soup, ogbono soup, oha soup, afang soup, I can go on and on but I am pretty sure you get the picture I am trying to paint.

Where I come from, the yam is pounded together with plantain and palm oil. Eat this dish I doubt u will be hungry for hours because it is filling. It is called onunu.

BEANS AND DODO

Beans and dodo is one of the most popular foods in Nigeria. Dodo is also called fried plantain. Ask most guys now in Nigeria what their best meal is, they will gladly tell you it is beans and dodo.

I was shocked when I was watching an interview on tv, a South African that visited Nigeria was asked his favourite meal in Nigeria and he said beans and plantain.

GARRI

Or eba as most people will call it is very popular in Nigeria. This dish made from cassava is something every Nigerian must have had in one way or another. Garri is best served with soup like egusi soup, okro, efo riro and ogbono soup.Drink gari with beans, beans cake, milk and groundnut.

INDOMIE NOODLES

Indomie, loved by kids, ladies mostly, few guys is another meal that is well known in Nigeria.

Although it is an already processed food but does it really matter for the sake of this list?

Lol. Some people call it a lazy man's food because it is prepared in less than 5 minutes. This facts made indomie one of the most popular foods in Nigeria.

AKARA BALLS

Akara is just a deap fried bean cake. It is filled with protein and is best taken with pap (made from grounded corn). Most people love taking akara with bread.

MOIN MOIN

This protein filled meal made from peeled beans grounded together with onions, pepper, palm/vegetable oil, spices.

It is highly recommended for staying healthy and also advised to be incorporated into our diets. You can decide to put boiled eggs, corned beef if you want to.

SUYA

Suya is grilled meat done in an open fire. It is done mostly at night by majority of hausa's and it is served with big chops of onion, cabbage and pepper in a newspaper.

DODO (FRIED PLANTAIN)

Plantains are either green, yellow or black depending on how ripe or unripe it is. It is fried in vegetable oil, cut either diagonally or in circles. Best served with rice, beans or eaten alone.

CHIN CHIN

Chin chin is one of the popular snack in Nigeria . They are made from dough which is made up of butter, flour, eggs, etc. The dough is cut in cubes and deep fried.

ZOBO

Zobo is a nutritious drink made from dried hibiscus flowers. These dried flowers are usually boiled in water with great aromatic spices like ginger, vanilla and any aromatic spice you want to add. It is best served cold. Zobo is usually taken with other snacks. It's definitely among the most popular foods in Nigeria.

EFO RIRO

Efo riro is a very rich vegetable soup, popularised by the Yorubas. It is filled with assorted meat. Made with pumpkin leaves. Has great nutritive value and absolutely delicious.

TUWO SINKAFA

This is one of the most delicious dishes found in the Northern part of Nigeria. Tuwo is just really soft rice served with a spicy sauce. People that has tasted this delicacy can testify on how good it tastes.

BOLI (ROASTED PLANTAIN)

Have tasted the boli from Port Harcourt? Boli and roasted peppered fish is a very delicious meal. It is well known in the southern Nigeria, Port Harcourt to be precise. Boli also goes well with groundnut.

GALA AND LACASERA

I have said a lot about our local dishes, it's time to visit this great snack. Although its not really food but the relationship between gala and lacasera has been going strong. It has passed the test of time..lol. These two are made for each other. I put this on the list because it is even more popular than some dishes here.

AFANG SOUP

Afang soup is a delicious meal prepared with ukazi leaves and waterleaf. It is a rich vegetable soup popular in south-south of Nigeria. Prepared with assorted meat, stock fish, seafoods, etc. I love my afang soup. If you have ever visited a typical Nigeria restaurant, you know that Afang soup is definitely one of the most popular foods in Nigeria.

14th September, 2018 His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari President, Federal Republic of Nigeria State House Aso Villa Abuja Dear Excellency, Let me commence by thanking you profusely for the honour and privilege of serving under your inspirational leadership. It has been a truly rewarding experience to learn from you and to observe at close quarters your integrity and sense of duty. I have, today, become privy to the findings of the investigation into the allegation made in an online medium that the Certificate of Exemption from National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) that I had presented was not genuine. This has come as a shock to me and I believe that in line with this administration’s focus on integrity, I must do the honourable thing and resign. Your Excellency, kindly permit me to outline some of the background to this matter. I was born and raised in the United Kingdom, indeed my parental family home remains in London. My visits to Nigeria up until the age of thirty-four (34) were holida...

Egyptian Lawyer jailed for saying women in ripped jeans should be raped

An Egyptian lawyer has been sentenced to three years in prison for saying that women who wear ripped jeans should be raped in punishment. The lawyer made the remarks on a TV panel show in October, during a debate on a draft law on prostitution. "Are you happy when you see a girl walking down the street with half of her behind showing?" he said. He added: "I say that when a girl walks about like that, it is a patriotic duty to sexually harass her and a national duty to rape her." Mr Wahsh said that women who wore revealing clothing were "inviting men to harass them", and said "protecting morals is more important than protecting borders". The prosecutor brought charges against Mr Wahsh after a public outcry. The National Council for Women's Rights condemned the remarks, saying they were a "flagrant call" for rape, in violation of "everything in the Egyptian constitution". The council has now filed a complaint about th...
