ever seen. 100-year-old Ruby Holt spent her
whole life rural Tennessee on a farm picking
cotton and raising her children. She never had
the time or money to see the ocean, but all
this changed just shy of her 101st birthday.
Thanks to Ruby’s assisted living center and an
organization that grants wishes to the elderly,
she was able to make the trip to the Gulf of
Mexico and experience the ocean for the first
time in her very long life. “I’ve heard people
talk about it and how wonderful it was and
wanted to see it, but I never had the
opportunity to do so,” Ruby said.
