Charles Manson gets marriage license

CORCORAN, Calif. (AP) — Mass murderer Charles
Manson plans to marry a 26-year-old woman
who left her Midwestern home and spent the past
nine years trying to help exonerate him.
Afton Elaine Burton, the raven-haired bride-to-be,
said she loves the man convicted in the notorious
murders of seven people, including pregnant
actress Sharon Tate.
No date has been set, but a wedding coordinator
has been assigned by the prison to handle the
nuptials, and the couple has until early February
to get married before they would have to reapply.
The Kings County marriage license, viewed
Monday by The Associated Press, was issued
Nov. 7 for the 80-year-old Manson and Burton,
who lives in Corcoran — the site of the prison —
and maintains several websites advocating his
innocence.
Burton, who goes by the name "Star," told the AP
that she and Manson will be married next month.

BAYELSA AGAIN.

There was apprehension in Bayelsa State on Saturday as gunmen said to sea pirates allegedly killed four policemen and abducted six persons. The killing of the policemen and the abduction of the six persons were said to have been carried out in two separate operations in the state. While the killing of the policemen took place along the Santa Barbara waterways, the six were abducted along the Nembe waterways in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. SUNDAY PUNCH learnt the gunmen also seized a gunboat belonging to the Nigeria Police in an incident that occurred about 1:30pm on Friday. It was learnt the gunboat was escorting a barge owned by the Nigerian Agip Oil Company when the pirates attacked it. Another Igbo businessman killed in Bauchi

TWO weeks after an Igbo business woman, Mrs Lorencia Onunkwo, was killed by yet to be arrested gunmen in front of her house at Fadama Mada area of Bauchi, a prominent Igbo businessman in the state capital, Mr John Udeh, popularly called John Bosco, was on Tuesday evening murdered in front of his house at the Federal Low-cost Housing Estate, Bauchi.
