Nigerian born United States Army Captain has urged President Goodluck Jonathan to suspend every form of gentility and get down with the Boko Haram terrorists group.

He said for the President to win the war
against insurgency, he has to shelve his
gentility and introduce a hard stand. He said
the war against insurgency could be won if the
Federal Government was determined, adding
that there were several ways of wiping out the
sect and stopping the incessant killings. He
added that if the Federal Government was
ready to end Boko Haram today it will be
achieved.
“ Who are those in the sect that dare face the
government? But unfortunately, I suspect there
are some bigwigs behind these people. Mr
President is being too gentle in his handling of
the killings; but unfortunately, it is daily
assuming dangerous dimension; gentility
cannot win the war. Although gentility is not a
crime but Mr President will have to be more
aggressive because this is a security threat to
the entire nation. Mr President will have to take
a stand on the matter either to continue to
tolerate the sect and leave Nigerians to be
mourning every day with the several killings.
Mr President should give a matching order to
the military to wipe them off once and for all.
Not until a strong stand is taken Nigerians
may not be able to sleep with their eyes
closed,” he said.
The U.S army captain, who said the Nigerian
military has been doing a good job in the
troubled states, stated that the military is
fighting unknown faces and faceless groups.
He said to effectively combat the menace, the
Federal government will have to first identify
the cause of the problem, the root, sponsors,
as well as where and how these insurgents get
their weapons.
According to him, the security agencies do not
also understand the terrain they are fighting
the war because most of them are alien to the
battle fields, adding that they know nothing
about the sect, and questioned how they will
fight such war and win.
Adebomi, who revealed that he led over 5,000
U.S. soldiers to war during the Pre-
Mobilisation in 2010, expressed optimism that
the sect could be wiped out. He said the sect
meant nothing to the Nigeria security agencies
if genuine commitment was there adding, all
the military need is the Presidential directive.
The Nigerian born U.S soldier urged Mr.
President to read the riot act to the governors
of the affected states or be made to face the
wrath of the Federal government, noting that
the President could also compel the governors
in the states to account for each soul lost to
the insurgents.

Ikokore : An Ijebu Food

Ifokore, is a Yam Pottage dish made with Water Yam  not White Yam. It is a pottage recipe from the Ijebu people of Ogun state and ijebu from Lagos state , Nigeria. I’m yet to come across an Ijebu person who doesn’t love Ikokore,  Ikokore remains a staple in an ijebu household. To really enjoy Ikokore, you’ll need to incorporate as much proteins as you possibly can to enrich it. Your best bets are Shaki, ( intestine ) Ponmo, Chicken, Goat meat, Gizzard, Smoked Turkey, Smoked Fish, Panla, Eja Kika, the more the merrier. The authentic Ikokore recipe requires no blended pepper, it calls for just Scotch Bonnet (Ata rodo) and in some cases, dry ground pepper but I’m not too keen on hot and spicy dishes so I settle for Shombo. Ingredients: A Tuber of Water yam 3 Cooking spoons Palm Oil 4 Cups Chicken or Beef Stock/ Water #100 Shombo/Tatashe or 4Tablespoons dry ground pepper #50 Scotch Bonnet (ata Rodo) Smoked Fish (Eja Kika) or Shawa (Bonga fish)Shredd...

MY FACT ABOUT BIAFRA.

This is a part some people will not like to hear, but we will say it here for historical purposes. When the great Biafran leader, Col. Dim Emeka Odimegwu Ojukwu was granted a state pardon by President Shehu Shagari in 1982, the Ikemba soon contested for Senate under the then National Party of Nigeria (NPN), but did his people vote for him? Lest we also forget, he contested for the presidency, how many votes did he got even in Anambra? Let us bring in Chief Alex Ekweme. We recall, despite being founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),he contested for the party nomination for president in 2002. We all remember how the South-East governors then did all they could to outdo themselves to be seen to be more loyal to President Olusegun Obasanjo than even his own ministers. There was nothing wrong in all these for these people as long as it all guarantees fat bank accounts and unmerited rewards. No one talks about Biafra when contract figures are inflated; Biafra makes no sense ...

STRAIGHTalk with Dr. Doyin Okupe

One major characteristic feature of a Representative Democracy is the ability of the government to be accountable to the citizens. Since elected public office holders assumed power through public votes, it becomes imperative of them to remain accountable to the public. However, Public Accountability in governing the affairs of people and management of public asset especially in Nigeria has remained questionable. Public Institutions such as, EFCC, ICPC and indeed Code of Conduct Bureau/Tribunal established to hold public office holders accountable to the electorates have become political machinery to whittle-down the power of oppositions. Notwithstanding all these, the present administration of President Goodluck Jonathan in Nigeria has consistently promised to be more accountable to the electorates.
